Getting people to trust new ways of working.
My first job out of college was as a mental health counselor, splitting my time between an inpatient psychiatric unit and an inpatient eating disorders unit. Odd start for someone who ended up in the digital transformation space, I know. Stay with me here!
I followed some great advice and got a job at MEDITECH, two and a half years flying around the country teaching hospital administrators to work inside their new electronic health record systems. The software was hard to learn and there was always a technical aptitude hurdle I had to clear with admins. Walking onto a hospital where people had done the same thing the same way for years, asking them to trust something new, and effecting meaningful change was always the hardest part, and a very engaging challenge.
That turned out to be the core of every job I’ve had since. Nearly seven years at HubSpot now, across customer onboarding, strategic consulting, and partner development. In 2023 I co-founded Synaptic Labs with my brother. As an AI education and deployment company we set out to solve systemic problems companies of all sizes faced with these new tools. I’ve seen first hand how software, when implemented effectively, can change the way people work for the better. AI was the greatest equalizer I had ever seen, and I knew I wanted to help people use it better.
These days I build AI tools in my free time and teach people to use them. I split my time between personal projects and use cases to support my colleagues at work.
What I’m interested in
Conversations about AI enablement, adoption, education, and my dogs. Hiking, biking, snowboarding, woodworking, creating, and anything else that clears the bar of being “fun in the sun”
